As natural entrepreneurs, we build and operate, sharing risks and returns with our partners and clients.
Our management consulting practice specializes in building innovation and high-tech ecosystems for large corporations and governments and supporting growth of successful digital businesses in the Middle East and Turkey.
Commit Network is a holding company with telecom, management consulting, and Internet investments based in Dubai, Riyadh, and Istanbul.
Our vision is to support economic development in our region by building sustainable businesses and ecosystems. We do this by building bridges between our markets and linking innovators and incumbents.
We are differentiated by our willingness to carry out a full mission from ideation to success and courage to take on the challenge of building new businesses.
COMMIT operates in a unique four-step business building model: Ideate: Whether building businesses for our clients or as own-investments, our consultant team starts by generating new business ideas applicable to our region Validate: Business ideas are then validated with our clients or end-users Build: Only validated ideas are built with emphasis on human capital and strategic partnership Operate: Businesses are launched and operated in a revenue/risk share model
Why COMMIT? Letter from Founding Managing Partner Alper Celen “When I first visited the Gulf region in 2006, I was amazed with the possibilities it presented. The growth potential was astounding and the culture was unique yet familiar. So, in 2009 when I decided to leave McKinsey & Company to start my own company, the choice was clear to move to the Gulf. We chose “COMMIT“ as the brand to remind ourselves that we do our best everyday in everything we do to positively impact the region. We added “NETWORK“ knowing that we could only be able to do this with the support of our partners, advisors, and clients. Thus formed “COMMIT Network“. In the early days, our vision was to deliver boutique management consulting services to the region’s telecom and public sector clients. To better understand the consulting needs, I personally interviewed more than 30 CXO’s in the region. The consensus was clear: local businesses and governments valued business advice and problem solving skills but much more so when they came with implementation capability. This led us to adjust our business model to not only consult but also to build our recommendations with a clear focus on top-line and bottom-line impact. To deliver this impact, we built our capability by building a NETWORK of great partners with invaluable know-how. In telecom, we now have 26 global service and technology partners with whom we serve our telecom operator clients to build turn-key businesses. We do this in a four step business process: we first (I) IDEATE with our partners and clients on new services to build, we then (II) VALIDATE these ideas with our operator clients’ top management, upon which we (III) BUILD the business, and then (IV) LAUNCH to generate revenues. We run this process often in a revenue share model which dramatically reduces risk for our operator clients and aligns the incentives for the sustainable success of the businesses we build and help operate. In our e-commerce business, we have aimed to be part of the e-commerce development taking place in our region. Our main goal is to take offline business online and deliver both merchant and end-customer delight. We do this based in Saudi Arabia, the most important Internet market in MENA with half the purchasing power in the region. Our site www.Fursaty.com has rapidly become a regional leader in e-commerce providing short-term deals that enrich lives locally. I am proud that we have succeeded in presenting Saudis the opportunity to enjoy their cities such as Riyadh or Jeddah in ways they could not before. We have also founded www.FoodOnClick.com in Saudi in partnership with www.YemekSepeti.com of Turkey to bring their immense knowhow and experience to the market. Beyond the businesses we build and operate, we are now venturing into angel investing in high-tech and healthcare sectors. In high-tech we are interested in loyalty and payment platforms, social media marketing, online and mobile gaming, and digitization. Our investments include www.AdvanTag.me, www.CloudGames.com, www.MondoTaxi.com. And of course, in all that we do, we remain committed to our community. To this end, we have helped established non-profit organizations such as Mobile Monday in Dubai and Riyadh and advise MIT Enterprise Forum Pan Arab Chapter in their missions to drive high-tech entrepreneurship in the region. We have also helped found the Entrepreneurs’ Organization in Turkey to support entrepreneurship in that important market and continue our life-long learning.
